NBCUniversal and A. Smith and Co. release statement on Drew Drechsel’s arrest

The American Ninja Warrior community was shaken to its core by the criminal charges and arrest of competitor Drew Drechsel, season 11’s winner.

NBC has now released a statement on the situation, including his removal from the upcoming season of the show, which was filmed July 13-23 in St. Louis, MO.

From NBCUniversal and A. Smith & Co:

We are shocked and disturbed to learn about the charges alleged against Drew Drechsel. American Ninja Warrior is a family show that has inspired countless people, and we will not let the actions of one contestant tarnish the hard work and amazing stories of so many. Moving forward, the American Ninja Warrior brand will sever all ties with Mr. Drechsel, including his appearance on future seasons of the show.

We cannot fully describe the pain we feel for the victim. We’re shattered for all the fans and athletes who looked up to this individual.

Wait, does that mean he lost the million dollars and there was never a second champion just Isaac Caldiero?

You can't unring that bell

But you can never mention him by name again.

"Only 2 men have achieved total victory, and we have the first one here".

Not hard to do with a dedicated writing and editing staff.

Or, in the rather unlikely event that somehow all of this turns out to not be what it appears to be (I don’t see how that could happen, but innocent until proven guilty and all that), you bring the stuff back.

Don't forget Geoff!

Don’t forget Geoff Britten! He may not have won prize money, but he too completed total victory and is an ANW.

Your right about Geoff

Yes and no

Well no, he still has the million dollars and the title but it’s probably going to be spent on fines and yes Issac was a more loyal winner that drew. P.S what ever got into drew’s mind then well…………he’s gone crazy and P.S.S what happened to Issac after season 10?

More weird

What’s even more baffling is that they’re actually showing USA vs The World with Drew in them!

That aired before NBC was aware

NBC aired season 10’s USA vs The World on Monday night. Everyone became aware of what was happening on Tuesday. They are pulling the airing of season 11’s USA vs the World that they intended to show next Monday.

Still can’t we pretend that their has never been a second Ninja Warrior champion just Isaac Caldiero with Daniel Gil earning his right becoming a Last Ninja Standing

Any chance they will put the All Star special there?

That probably needs significantly edited as well, Drew competed in an event in the skills comp in Vegas last year, I don’t know if I can say which but once it airs it will be pretty easy to figure out which event he entered.

Guess that means probably no All-Stars until like 30 years later.

What have happend

What have happend, i lives i Norway, but dont now what happend with him, I am a fan of the show. But because they dont show it in Norway anymore, i cant see this and last sesong.

He (Drew Drechel) is being accused of sexual exploitation and assault of an under-age girl back in 2015 (she was 15, he was 26) and I guess infidelity from his wife….

He’s not married. He and April are in a long term relationship. Or were. No idea how’s she’s doing right now. Really feel for her and their child.

So I guess innocent until proven guilty does not matter any longer. But kind of expected it from NBC.
If he is guilty fine and hope you like prison.
But if he is innocent then you will have a huge lawsuit on your hands.
