Let’s talk about American Ninja Warrior’s most utterly iconic obstacle: The Warped Wall.
Earlier today, we took a look at season 13’s obstacle numbers. Who fell where? Which obstacle took out the most competitors? Once again, we found that the Warped Wall was pretty tame for the Ninjas.
Remember when we said absolutely no one failed the Warped Wall in season 12.
We do need to provide some context here. Season 12 was a unique season in that only 150 Ninjas took part. That’s drastically down from the 600-plus Ninjas that usually would attempt a season. Generally, there are some in that crowd that can’t complete the Warped Wall. Also, the Warped Wall is in the sixth position on the course. That means the competitors have to get through five other obstacles to even face it. So is the Warped Wall “easy” or is it that the competitors who reach it are equipped to handle it?
Since season 13 was back on a more “normal” schedule, would the Warped Wall prove more difficult? Not really.
Around 400 competitors were included for season 13 of the show. Only one person failed the Warped Wall and that was in the Semifinals. Still doesn’t seem like it’s stumping many people.
It makes sense. The Warped Wall has been around even longer than American Ninja Warrior. Ninja-specific gyms have proliferated across the country in recent years. And most of them have a Warped Wall to train on. Access has become much less of an issue.
For season eight of American Ninja Warrior, the Warped Wall’s height was raised from 14’ to 14’6”. But that’s not stopping anyone lately.
This brings us to our question: Do you want to see the Warped Wall changed or omitted for upcoming seasons?
