UPDATE: This article has been updated to include even MORE things Jessie has been busy with!
Do you ever procrastinate by wondering, “I wonder what so and so has been up to lately?” That happened to us this morning. But then we realized we weren’t procrastinating, we were just researching our next article for you!
What’s Jessie Graff been up to since season 12 of American Ninja Warrior?
Not like any of you need a reminder, but Jessie Graff is a prolific American Ninja Warrior athlete. She’s one of the most successful women in the show’s history, the first woman to clear Stage One of the National Finals, and is one of the best-known competitors worldwide.
Jessie was unable to take part in season 13 of American Ninja Warrior due to her recovery from double shoulder surgeries. She announced it in the most Jessie way possible: In song.
As the video spells out, Jessie feels the same way. She adores Ninja Warrior and movement in general. Taking a step back, while the right decision, is a tough decision. But everyone around her encouraged her to “sit it out.”
Jessie wrote the lyrics to the song and set it to “Shake It Out” by Florence + the Machine. In the video, we see Jessie’s family, friends, and other acclaimed Ninja Warriors all offer their support. American Ninja Warrior host Matt Iseman even belts it out. Akbar Gbajabiamila comes in at the end to really pour on the feelings.
So has Jessie spent the last year sitting around, binging TV shows, and lamenting her lost Ninja Warrior season? Oh, no, no, no.
First, she’s been on the long road to full recovery. These things take time and cannot be rushed. But she has somehow managed to fill every day with a plethora of activities.
Jessie is getting certified in nutrition, personal training, corrective exercise, dynamic neuromuscular stabilization. She also started a master’s degree program in kinesiology. Her goal is to develop a thorough and interactive injury prevention fitness app.
She’s also working towards a hang-gliding pilot’s license.
Jessie is dedicated to learning American Sign Language with Deaf Ninja, Kyle Schulze.
She’s traveled to Ninja events, like the famous Ultimate Backyard Warrior.
Jessie has spent time with fellow Ninja and mom, Ginny!
As if she didn’t have enough hobbies, Jessie learned how to free dive.
She can now hold her breath for FOUR MINUTES.
Naturally, she’s also finding opportunities to go flying.
To us, it looks like her strength is still spot on.
We mean, really?!?
Alright, we’re exhausted just thinking about all those things.
So is Jessie interested in season 14 of American Ninja Warrior? That’s entirely up to her. But it’s clear she hasn't given up her love of constant movement!
