The Ninjas went BIG during the Big Dipper Freestyle

They didn’t hold back when it came time to fly!

The 2020 American Ninja Warrior All-Stars special included a fan-favorite competition: The Big Dipper Freestyle. This involves removing the second track from Stage One’s Big Dipper and allowing the Ninjas to just let it rip! Hosts Akbar, Matt, and Zuri judged each dive on a scale of 1-10.

Check out a couple highlighted dives below!

Najee Richardson dedicated his second dive to Ethan Swanson, who injured himself before the dive-off. Najee did Ethan’s trademark flap of the wings and stomp of the feet. Then he did a... Well, we don’t exactly know what to call that. But it was two flips and two twists. The move earned a 10 from Matt, a nine from Zuri and a SEVEN from Akbar! (What was he thinking?!?) The score meant he would not be the contest’s winner.

It all came down to a dive-off between Jessie Graff and Grant McCartney. Jessie went first and mentioned, “I don’t know what this is.” Whatever it was, it was spectacular. The backwards dive earned 10s across the board from the judges.

How would Grant top that? Adam Rayl would climb on top. Grant tapped Adam to clamber aboard. Then, in one of the more terrifying moments of the night, they inched to the edge of the platform and took a wild ride into a front flip.

Everyone was so impressed and relieved they were safe that they too earned a perfect 30. That gave us our All-Stars co-champions!
