Sneak Peek: Matt and Akbar try not to tank on ‘Ellen’s Game of Games’

Their partners endured some pretty stinky punishment.

Are you missing American Ninja Warrior’s Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila as much as we are?

Thank goodness we get to spend a little time with our favorite hosts on the latest episode of “Ellen’s Game of Games.” Matt and Akbar will be on the show Tuesday, April 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC (tomorrow!). But we’ve got a little taste for you right now.

Matt and Akbar join Ellen for the very messy game of “Stink Tank.” As far we can tell, two poor souls are dunked in a tank of undetermined gross goo based on whether or not Matt and Akbar can sing a well-known children’s song.

Akbar has four kids. We bet he knows his way around a Hokey Pokey pretty darn well. His quick thinking sent Matt’s partner into the tank.

It’s a risk Akbar wouldn’t take himself, saying, “I don’t think I could put myself through that. It looked really stinky and gross. I’m sure I have a lot of skin allergies that wouldn’t agree with me getting in a chair. Also I’m 250 pounds so I’m sure I’m too heavy as well. These are all great excuses not to get in the chair.”

Suuuure, Akbar.

The wild game show is a bit hard to describe if you haven’t witnessed it yourself. Here’s the breakdown from NBC:

“Ellen’s Game of Games” includes supersized versions of the most popular and action-packed games from DeGeneres’ award-winning daytime talk show, ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ Contestants are pulled from the audience and must maneuver massive obstacles, answer questions under crushing time pressure and face gigantic plunges into the unknown – all in a quest to win a big cash prize.

In addition this season, DeGeneres has convinced several of her celebrity friends to join in on the fun.”

We all know Ellen is a huge fan of American Ninja Warrior. She’s had competitors like Allyssa Beird, Grant McCartney, and champion Drew Drechsel on her show in the past. She also set up a mini course outside her studio and coaxed other celebrities and her producer to give it a shot.

Clearly, it’s time for Ellen to step up to the course herself. She’s nimble, she’s a multi-tasker, she doesn’t crack under pressure. We have a feeling Ellen would make it through a few obstacles on strategy, determination, and positive thinking alone.

But while we wait to see Ellen on American Ninja Warrior, remember to catch the full episode of “Ellen’s Game of Games” including Matt and Akbar on Tuesday, April 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
