It seems like COVID-19 has turned the world upside down and, for many people, brought their definition of “normal” to a screeching halt. The stress, anxiety and worry has turned into an obstacle we all face every day. Which is why we need our Ninjas more than ever.

Kent Weed, Executive Producer and Creator of American Ninja Warrior, wants to bring the athletes into your home virtually to discuss the challenges you’re facing right now.

That’s the motivation behind Ninja Talks: Overcoming Obstacles, a new webinar series launching Monday, May 4 on Facebook Live.

“For the last couple of years, in addition to producing American Ninja Warrior, I have been hosting events on Becoming Extraordinary, and I’ve always wanted to do something for the Ninja community that would help them level up their game. Something that was more than just physical training. Something that incorporated Mind, body and Spirit,” Weed shared when asked about the inspiration behind the series.

“About a year ago, my friend and fellow Mindvalley Master Certified Trainer, Lindsay Andreotti, and I formed a plan to put on live events where people could come meet Ninjas and get advice, tips, tools and techniques on how to do just that.

We had invited several Ninjas to be speakers at these events, and then, BOOM, Covid hits. So time to shift gears, we decided to do something even better, something that could reach and influence and inspire many more people, that is how ‘Ninja Talks’ was born.”

Ninja Talks: Overcoming Obstacles is a webinar series that will take place every Monday in May. You can watch each session live on Facebook, or gain VIP access by registering for $10 which allows you to participate in the seminar with the Ninjas. The debut episode on May 4 features a line up of heavy-hitters from the show including: Jessie Graff, Joe Moravsky, Meagan Martin, Najee Richardson, Grant McCartney, Sandy Zimmerman, and Season 11 Champion Drew Drechsel.

As with everything about American Ninja Warrior, the key is the community. Ninja Talks has launched a Facebook group where the sessions will be broadcast, but it will also to act as a hub for all those interested in discussing things further. You can request to join that community here.

Coming together and helping one another is a huge reason why the Ninjas are making time to participate in this series. Four-time National Finalist Najee Richardson shared, “The reason I wanted to take part in this is because I feel like this is a time where people are struggling and may feel very alone in their worries or concerns. I think having someone you look up to speak about their struggles and how they’re working through them, it can not only be comforting but help those struggling realize they’re not alone after all.”

The Ninja Talks format takes the Ninjas down from the course and presents them to viewers as peers and humans, people they can relate to and learn from.

“Ninja Talks is a unique chance for people to see Ninjas at home, in their own environments, with their hair down and their feet up. It’s an opportunity to take a look at the Ninjas lives and what they are doing to not only cope with Covid, but thrive during this time,” Weed said.

“We have had a few Zoom calls with the Ninjas already and OMG, it has been so much fun. Seeing Drew playing with his baby, Jessie in her home gym while growing potatoes, or Joe Moravsky with his kids, just warms the heart. At the same time it’s an opportunity for people to gain powerful insight and learn practical tools and techniques to use in their own lives.

The first episode is an overview of what the series has to offer. There will be laughter, maybe some tears, a lot of great content, and guaranteed a lot of fun.”

While season 12 of American Ninja Warrior is on pause for the moment, Ninja Talks is a way to bring the inspirational athletes into your life as we all overcome these new obstacles together.
