Mondays are difficult. The Monday after the Super Bowl is... Woof. (We fully support the idea that it should be a national holiday.) So let’s keep things a little light.
One member of the American Ninja Warrior family certainly had his fair share of fun with the big game. Host Akbar Gbajabiamila went down to Miami to attend the game in person, which makes perfect sense. Akbar is a sports analyst for the NFL Network and a former player himself who put in time with the Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, and Miami Dolphins.
We’re going to go out a limb and say Akbar had a good time. Here he is hanging with Mack Hollins, wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, Michael Thomas, wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, and Jaleel White, who played Steve Urkel. (We’re entirely positive he’s done way more than that, but when you embodied such a cherished pop culture icon, it’s gotta get a shout out.)
But let’s get to what you came here for! The real gem from his time in Miami is this little video. It’s Akbar and Jaleel White breaking it down to the popular song “Old Town Road,” by Lil Nas X. Please enjoy basking in this serenade and soaking in Akbar’s majestic moves. The grace. The beauty. The perfect pitch.
This historic performance was part of one pretty swank gathering, Master of the Mic, put on Dwayne Wade and featuring just a COUPLE of famous faces getting their karaoke on.
We’d like to submit a formal request for more singing and dancing from Akbar on season 12 of American Ninja Warrior.
