Opinion time! Now that American Ninja Warrior season 12 is a wrap, let’s hear your thoughts.
Season 12 featured a new and different format from what we’re used to seeing. Did you love or hate the Power Tower playoffs?
To recap, season 12 of American Ninja Warrior was taped in July at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, MO. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the show had to scrap its usual format of traveling to various Qualifying cities and hosting a National Finals in Las Vegas.
The producers came up with a new format to create an eight-episode season. About 150 competitors were invited to St. Louis. After four rounds of Qualifiers and two rounds of Semi-Finals, we arrived at the Finals. The top 27 Ninjas raced on a 10-obstacle course and the top eight advanced to the first ever Power Tower playoffs, featuring side-by-side races. Generally, it’s “Ninja versus the course.” Seeing the competitors square off in a race was a new concept that generated a lot of discussion.
After the finale episode wrapped, we saw a lot of varying opinions in the comments on our social media posts. Some of you loathed the new format and want a return to “normalcy” for season 13. Some of you loved the new format and how it guaranteed a winner of the season. Some of you wanted neither and suggested different ways the show could make additional format changes.
Let’s talk it over! Take the poll below and then jump down to the comments to give your thoughts.
