Stage One of the American Ninja Warrior National Finals has returned and it’s just as devilish as ever. While it might look simple in execution, there’s nothing easy about getting to the buzzer. The 86 Ninjas who qualified for Stage One are split into two episodes.

On night one, we saw 32 athletes try their best. As per usual, the course quickly knocked out some big names who we thought would make it farther into the competition, like Najee Richardson and Kevin Bull. Flip Rodriguez had to use his hard-earned Safety Pass to make it through to the next round.

Night two saw 16 more Ninjas through to the buzzer. In total, 28 are left standing to face Stage Two. In a surprising moment, Drew Drechsel needed to use his Safety Pass to advance. Sadly, no women were left in the competition to move forward.
