American Ninja Warrior makes its season 11 return tomorrow, Wednesday, May 29 at 8/7c on NBC. Fans are not only excited for the return of the beloved action and inspiration, but also the chance to watch all the new factors in play.
Season 11 brings quite a bit of change with it. Zuri Hall will be joining us as the sideline reporter. The Mega Wall is now all or nothing. But probably the most notable change is the inclusion of the new Power Tower at the end of each Qualifying and City Final night.
There’s a comprehensive breakdown of the tower here, but in a nutshell...
The Power Tower is a head-to-head bonus obstacle. The fastest and second fastest competitors of each night will move to this obstacle. They will race for two very valuable prizes. In Qualifying, they are racing for the Speed Pass, which automatically qualifies the winner for the National Finals, regardless of what happens in City Finals. In the City Finals, they race for the Safety Pass. The Safety Pass allows the winner to call a do-over on Stage One or Two of the National Finals, should they fall. (You can only use the Safety Pass once. You can’t fall on Stage One, use it, then fall on Stage Two and try to use it again.)
This has the potential to drastically change the outcome and results of this season, and it’s worth talking about. It will be an adjustment for the hardcore Ninja Warrior fans. We’ve never seen Ninjas take on one another (in this format) and we’ve never wrapped our heads around the idea that some Ninjas could get a do-over.
So, we want to know, what is your initial reaction to the Power Tower? Take the poll or give us your thoughts in the comments section below.
