One very unique thing about Matt and Akbar, the hosts of American Ninja Warrior, is how deeply they genuinely care about the people around them, be it the Ninjas, crew, or others in their lives. Case in point is Matt Iseman’s new #WarriorWednesdays. It’s a video series he has started to honor everyday people facing life’s obstacles head on.
Matt’s guest on his second #WarriorWednesdays was Teri Rogers. Teri’s two youngest children both have cystic fibrosis, which is “a genetic disorder that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs.” Matt honored Teri for her role as a caretaker. He interviewed her while life swirled around them in her home.
Teri speaks to the devastation, shock and fear she first felt at her children’s diagnosis. She discusses finding power in knowledge and hope. At one point, Teri says that if she could go back in time, she would tell her younger self, “Don’t worry about the things that are never going to happen.”
Matt donated $250 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Teri and her family.
Just a week before, Matt spoke with Derick Carver for his first #WarriorWednesdays. Derick is an Army Veteran and strength athlete who lost his leg in the line of duty.
You should definitely check out both powerful interviews. It beyond proves the point that we know so many warriors in our lives, whether they wind up on our television screens or not.
