Whoa. That’s all we can really say after watching the runs that took place on the seventh week of American Ninja Warrior: Ninja vs Ninja. The episode was wildly unpredictable with intense chases to the finish line. We saw some of the fastest finishes this season and a veteran team had to battle back when some new faces moved to edge them out of the competition.
Kevin Bull vs Kyle Soderman
This run set the tone of the episode. Kyle is a relative unknown to the American Ninja Warrior audience, while Kevin is a seasoned favorite. But Kyle wasn’t intimidated. He and Kevin tore through the course, with Kyle taking the first win of the night.
Maggi Thorne vs Sarah Schoback
The Criss Cross Ring Toss came into play once again. Maggi and Sarah battled for space in the middle of the obstacle. Sarah tried for a pass and was denied by Maggi, who dismounted first. Maggi went on to complete the course for the Expendabulls.
Mathis Owhadi vs Victor Juarez
Mathis and Victor decided to kick things up a notch. They drove each other down the course with incredible speed. Mathis reached the buzzer first, putting up one of the fastest finishes of the season to date.
Daniel Gil vs Abel Gonzalez
Both these competitors were the team captains and experienced Ninjas. In the end, it just came down to gas in the tank. Both ran a great heat, with Daniel taking the win by being just a tad faster than Abel.
Mathis Owhadi vs Hunter Guerard
Mathis and Hunter put on a race for the ages. Both had proven their speed over the course of the night. They blazed down the extended course, trading the lead back and forth. Mathis looked to have the advantage at the end, reaching the Zig Zag Climb first. But when he stopped to wipe his shoes, Hunter shot by him and scrambled to the top for the win.
On Monday, April 16, four more teams hit the course!
