Some American Ninja Warriors went to Chicago for the Junior Ninja Warrior Ninja Pro Camp that took place on December 3 and 4. It was quite a collection of big name Ninjas. The kids must have been so excited.
Here’s who participated:
- Grant McCartney
- Kevin Bull
- Jamie Rahn
- Jake Murray
- Jesse Labreck
- Michelle Warnky
- Karsten Williams
- Brandon Mears
- Dan Polizzi
- James McGrath
- Tyler Yamauchi
- Karen Sabo
- Mike Silenzi
- Marcelino Riley
- Ethan Swanson
The Ninjas are all a very economically responsible bunch, so they decided to save on cash and share an Air BnB. During what we imagine was a very loud and rambunctious slumber party, they filmed a little tribute to Queen’s classic, Bohemian Rhapsody, spearheaded by Island Ninja, Grant McCartney.
Which resulted in moments like this:
(Doesn’t this look a little like Ninja Warrior Whack-A-Mole?)
And this:
Then, after a night of fun bonding, the Ninjas forgot about Grant McCartney and he had to be rescued by the Chicago Fire Department.
Here’s the epic tale in Grant’s own words:
“Woke up. Stepped outside half dressed to grab something out of my car. FREEZING out.
Door to the Air BnB locks me out. The other Ninjas thought I was driving myself [to the event].
I can’t find my car. Car was towed. Walked back to the Air BnB to see the Uber pulling off with out me. Chased it down. Didn’t catch them.
Spent another 30 minutes looking for my car. Meet the Chicago Fire Department guys at Engine 30. I borrowed their iPad and Facebook messaged the Ninjas to get the code to the Air BnB.
Got my phone back. Uber-ed to the event and went into MC-ing the first of six camps! Welcome to Chicago!
Oh! And they [the fire department] gave me a smoothie for breakfast! One guy even said I could use his car if I wanted. So nice!

They didn’t know I did Ninja Warrior. So I left a video of my run on YouTube for them as I left. Thanks Chicago Fire Engine 30!”
Thank you, indeed! Thank you Chicago Fire Engine 30 for saving our Ninja from freezing to the Chicago sidewalk.
